CEO/President, MobileMonday Global

Jari Tammisto's career in mobile technology has spanned the globe with over 19 years of strategic entrepreneurial leadership and success. His extensive background in mobile technology was the drive behind his latest accomplishment, the launch of MobileMonday Global, a global network of wireless industry influencers under an exchange of peer leadership, knowledge and communal concepts on a global level. The MobileMonday network now operates chapters in over 70 regions/countries under his leadership and vision.

Tammisto is currently a Partner and Chairman of the Board of several start-up companies and executive member of Finland's technology fund (TEKES) overseeing the development of several major program covering technology, travel, and lifestyles changes.

Previously in his career, Tammisto held the positions of Managing Director and Chairman of two Scandinavian/global organizations, CommerceNet and RosettaNet, which he co-founded with Nokia, Motorola, Ericsson, Siemens, Vodafone, DT, BT, and AT&T. Tammisto lead both organizations in the development and promotion of open e-commerce procedures and standards and held one of the most influential roles in e-commerce and mobile development in Scandinavia, enabling industries to adapt into new Internet based business opportunities.

Tammisto recently accepted the honor of receiving an Internationalisation Award by Tarja Halonen, The President of the Republic of Finland, for his efforts and accomplishments in building some of the most successful international operations from Finland. Tammisto was also voted by the readers of Finnish business media (Taloussanomat) as one of the three most influential business entrepreneurs in Finland in 2007.

Tammisto holds BBA from Florida Atlantic University and eMBA from Helsinki School of Economics and currently resides in Helsinki with his family.

Madanmohan Rao

Dr. Madanmohan Rao is a new-media consultant and author from Bangalore. He is the editor of three book series: The Asia Pacific Internet Handbook, The Knowledge Management Chronicles, and AfricaDotEdu. He is the research project director of Mobile Monday Community, a network of mobile and wireless communication professionals, and a co-founder of the Bangalore K-Community, a network of knowledge management professionals. Madan is editor-at-large of DestinationKM, world music editor for Rave magazine, editor-at-large for Wireless World magazine (www.wireless-world.com.sg), and contributor to the Poynter Institute blog on new media trends.

Madan was formerly the communications director at the United Nations Inter Press Service bureau in New York, and vice president at IndiaWorld Communications in Bombay. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology at Bombay and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, with an M.S. in computer science and a Ph.D. in communications. Madan is a frequent speaker on the international conference circuit, and has given talks and lectures in over 60 countries around the world.

Mobile Monday: Connecting the Global Mobile Industry

Tammisto will focus on the remarkable Mobile Monday story, from it's inception back in Finland in the year 2000 till today. Great part of the discussion will focus on how Mobile Monday Global operates as a network of chapters to aid the different professionals associated with Mobile Monday and how this might work in the Local context, for all those involved.

Mobile Media: Opportunities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Based on the author's ongoing book series about new media, this talk will present a framework for analysing the mobile ecosystem in countries around the world. Eight categories of innovation and entrepreneurship will be identified, and case studies will be provided of startups and emerging frontiers. Within this framework, contributions of the Mobile Monday network will be highlighted, as a community bringing together a wide range of mobile players and spotlighting new innovation.

Q/A Session:

Moderator: Alex Grech (Telecoms and Social Media Strategist)

This session will be an open discussion between Jari Tammisto and Madan Mohan Rao and all those present based on the topics presented in the keynotes, and also regarding how Mobile Monday could help the local Mobile Industry to connect more actively with the global Mobile Industry thanks to the Mobile Monday community and Network. This session will be also addressing local issues, and how - through the experience of Mobile Monday Global - we can be of help in solving, or introducing, new ideas and services for local businesses and end customers.
